The Little Book for Heavy Days

The Little Book for Heavy Days

A practical companion for the days when life feels like a lot. Some days are just heavier than others. You might be stuck in your own head at 2am, caught in a spiral of overthinking, dealing with anxiety or panic, struggling with your inner critic, running on empty or simply trying to get through a difficult period. The Little Book for Heavy Days was written for those days. I'm Amie Hamnett, a BACP Registered Counsellor, and I wrote this book because I wanted to create something people could actually pick up when they were struggling. Not a textbook. Not a list of things you're supposedly doing wrong. And not a promise that a few positive thoughts will magically fix everything. Just a practical, accessible book to help you understand what's happening, look at things from a different perspective and find something useful to try. What's inside? The book explores some of the things that can make life feel particularly difficult, including: Anxiety and excessive worry Overthinking Panic and frightening physical sensations The inner critic Self-esteem Burnout and overwhelm Difficult emotions Stress Relationships Feeling stuck And those days when you simply don't have much left in the tank Each chapter combines accessible explanations with practical ideas and reflections you can come back to in your own time. You don't have to read it from beginning to end. Start wherever you need to. Why I wrote it As a counsellor, I spend a lot of time talking to people about the things that happen in their heads, their relationships and their everyday lives. I also know that therapy isn't accessible or appropriate for everyone. Sometimes you want to understand something before deciding whether counselling is right for you. Sometimes you're already having therapy and want something to explore between sessions. And sometimes you simply want something useful to read at 11pm when your brain has decided that now is an excellent time to replay every awkward conversation you've ever had. That's where this book came from. I wanted to create something that felt human, practical and realistic. Something you could keep on your bedside table, in your bag or wherever you tend to end up when you need a bit of perspective. This book might be for you if... You find yourself thinking: “I know I'm struggling, but I don't know where to start.” “My brain won't switch off.” “I understand what I'm supposed to do, but actually doing it is another matter.” “I just need something that makes this make a bit more sense.” You don't need to be in therapy to use the book. And you don't need to have a diagnosis or a particular mental health problem. It's simply there as another resource. Available now The Little Book for Heavy Days is available to buy on Amazon.
